Sacred Street Party honours Jayananda prabhu

Every Saturday, the Sacred Street Party visits different towns to touch people’s hearts by distributing Srila Prabhupada’s books, partaking in a sit-down kirtan and giving out prasadam cookies.

In honour of Jayananda prabhu, whose disappearance anniversary Srila Prabhupada requested devotees to honour, the Sacred Street Party made a special effort.

About 40 devotees, young and old, went to in Watford town centre and distributed over 1000 prasadam cookies, baked by different members of the community. A total of 193 of Srila Prabhupada’s books were distributed that day too!

“We did this because Jayananda prabhu had so much faith in the potency of prasadam and knew how to use it to attract people to Krsna consciousness” explained Rasika Raya das.

Prasadam is a love language that everyone can understand, a gesture of kindness and goodwill. Because it is imbued with Krsna’s energy, having been offered to Him with love, it purifies the heart and makes one more receptive to Krsna consciousness. Members of the public declared the cookies as ‘delicious’ and were really happy to receive them. The locals recognise us there because we visit quite regularly!”
